The only disappointment with Kingdom Come in more recent years particularly since was a palpable sense of exhaustion in Wolf's efforts: although the last two or three albums preceding "Rendered Waters" consisted of solid rock songs that overcame Wolf's diminishing zeal, the signs were there and unavoidable.
The inclusion of a remake of one of the band's own songs "Get It On" from their self-titled debut album was re-recorded for the band's album "Ain't Crying for the Moon" portended problems down the road. Since Kingdom Come has managed to stay afloat on brand equity that was legitimized by their European and Russian audiences. The songs continued Kingdom Come - Rendered Waters sound inspired though hints of some repetitive elements began to manifest.
It's possible Wolf has been Brief Encounter - David Hirschfelder - The Railway Man (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), performing, and producing these albums for the most part on his own - with the band's recent line-ups serving a touring function alone.
If this is what has zapped punch out of the band's sound, it Kingdom Come - Rendered Waters be time for Wolf to reconsider his approach to recording: the drums have definitely been in need of improvement during the production process for the last few albums: their Unchained Melody - The Jets (16) - Jets is closer to a drum machine than the elegant Kingdom Come - Rendered Waters powerful delivery the band's first drummers had provided.
If it's not a drum machine, then there's a serious production problem in the last two or three albums. Eight re-recorded tracks from previous albums largely from the first three and three new tracks don't really amount to a legitimate album.
This is not the album to rediscover Kingdom Come through. Kingdom Come could still be a force to reckon with in a world where Whitesnake is outselling Britney Spears.
A well-deserved break, more input from the actual band members in future recordings, a less canned-sounding production, and absolute repentance and atonement for re-recording songs that were otherwise well canonized by loyal fans world-wide years ago could put the band back on the right track.
It's too bad the release of this album means we SAC - Xylocaine - Stoma Care need to wait now for at least two years before we hear anything else - perhaps if the band had opted for a break after 's "Magnified" it may have come back two years from now with a much stronger Kingdom Come - Rendered Waters than "Rendered Waters.
